Tulpar-Kol Lake

Tulpar-Kol Lake is one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in southern Kyrgyzstan. Located at the foot of the famous Peak Lenin, the lake offers breathtaking views of snow-covered mountains, wide green pastures, and traditional nomadic landscapes.

At an altitude of around 3,500 meters (11,480 ft), Tulpar-Kol is a popular destination for travelers visiting the Pamir region and for trekkers heading toward Lenin Peak base camp.

The peaceful scenery and reflection of the giant mountain in the lake make Tulpar-Kol one of the most scenic locations in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Tulpar-Kol Lake is located in the Alay Valley in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Distance from major cities:

  • About 280 km from Osh

  • About 35 km from Sary-Mogol

The lake lies near the border with Tajikistan and is surrounded by the high mountains of the Pamir Mountains.

How to Get There

Travel to Tulpar-Kol usually starts from the city of Osh.

Route

Osh → Gulcha → Sary-Tash → Sary-Mogol → Tulpar-Kol Lake

Travel time from Osh:

5–6 hours by car

The last part of the journey may require a 4×4 vehicle depending on road conditions.
